For companies that standardise on Mac for new joiners, the 8 GB MacBook Air M2 is the practical default. It pairs the Apple M2 chip with 8 GB unified memory, a 256 GB SSD and a 13.6-inch display: a newer generation than the M1 Air and a more current machine for client-facing staff.
This configuration suits people whose day is email, calendars, video calls, CRM, ticketing and documents: account managers, recruiters, HR and finance executives, operations leads. It is not intended for heavy creative or development work. If a role involves Xcode, large Figma files or many memory-hungry apps open together, choose the 16 GB M2 Air instead.
The M2 Air is rented on a 1-year lock-in. That suits onboarding for permanent roles, where you want a fixed monthly cost for twelve months instead of a capital purchase. If you only need Macs for a short project, the month-to-month M1 Air is the better match. Rates come down as quantity rises, 18% GST is added to the listed rent, and you get a GST invoice with every bill. Business KYC is done online before dispatch. Your IT team enrols each Mac in its MDM and manages Apple IDs; at the end of the term we collect the laptops and factory-reset them.
Newer MacBooks, from the M2 Air onwards, are rented on twelve-month terms because they are deployed for permanent roles, and the rate reflects that commitment. If your need is shorter, for a project or a pilot, the MacBook Air M1 is available month to month with a one-month minimum. Confirm the term before ordering, since cancelling after an order is placed costs one month's rent.
For roles built around email, Teams or Zoom, Slack, a CRM, spreadsheets and presentations, yes. Designers, developers, analysts with large datasets, and people who run many heavy apps together should get the 16 GB M2 Air. Getting the split right at the start matters, because memory on a MacBook cannot be upgraded later.
Each configuration has a monthly rate that falls as quantity rises, in tiers of 1–5, 6–10, 11–25, 26–50, 51–100 and 100–200 units; the price list shows every tier. Rent is billed per monthly cycle from the date of handover. 18% GST is added on top of the listed rent and shown separately on the invoice, along with any add-ons and the delivery charge where it applies.
A 1-year lock-in applies to new laptops (12th and 13th Gen Core and the RTX laptops), MacBook Air M2 and later, most newer MacBook Pro models, the 12th and 14th Gen RTX workstations and the Core i5 desktop. The HP LaserJet 1020w and the TSC label printer carry a 6-month lock-in. Rent is payable for the full lock-in even if a device comes back early. Everything else runs month to month.
