About renting the MacBook Air M1 (16 GB / 256 GB)

The 16 GB M1 MacBook Air is the sensible middle step for teams that want an affordable Mac but find 8 GB tight. It has the Apple M1 chip, 16 GB unified memory, a 256 GB SSD and a 13.3-inch display, and like every M1 Air in our catalogue it is rented month to month with a one-month minimum.

The extra memory matters when people work with many things open at once: thirty browser tabs, Slack, Zoom, a CRM and a spreadsheet model, or an Xcode project alongside the iOS Simulator. Small startups use it as a budget development Mac for iOS and web work, and product managers like it for running demos and design reviews without stalls. Storage stays at 256 GB, so plan on cloud drives or Git for project files. If users keep local video or big asset libraries, pick a 512 GB configuration instead, because storage on a Mac cannot be upgraded later.

Quantity pricing applies in tiers, so rates drop as order size grows, and 18% GST is charged on top with a GST invoice. Business KYC happens online before dispatch. Your IT team handles MDM enrolment and company Apple IDs; sign the Macs out before return so each one can be factory-reset.

FAQs

MacBook Air M1 (16 GB / 256 GB) rental FAQs

Should we choose the 16 GB or the 8 GB MacBook Air M1?

Pick 16 GB for anyone who runs Xcode, keeps the iOS Simulator open, works across many browser tabs and call apps at once, or handles large spreadsheets. Pick 8 GB for sales, support and operations staff whose work is mostly email, SaaS tools and documents. Many teams mix both in one order to control cost.

Can an iOS developer build apps on the 16 GB M1 Air?

Yes. For small and mid-sized projects it is a capable budget build machine, especially for SwiftUI work and simulator testing. Large codebases with long compile times are better on a MacBook Pro with a Pro-series chip. With only 256 GB of storage, keep derived data and simulators tidy, and store project assets in Git or cloud drives.

How is the rent calculated?

Each configuration has a monthly rate that falls as quantity rises, in tiers of 1–5, 6–10, 11–25, 26–50, 51–100 and 100–200 units; the price list shows every tier. Rent is billed per monthly cycle from the date of handover. 18% GST is added on top of the listed rent and shown separately on the invoice, along with any add-ons and the delivery charge where it applies.

Which configurations have a lock-in period?

A 1-year lock-in applies to new laptops (12th and 13th Gen Core and the RTX laptops), MacBook Air M2 and later, most newer MacBook Pro models, the 12th and 14th Gen RTX workstations and the Core i5 desktop. The HP LaserJet 1020w and the TSC label printer carry a 6-month lock-in. Rent is payable for the full lock-in even if a device comes back early. Everything else runs month to month.
